Uniform 2016 Valda Jackson This shows the progression of the clay relief, "uniform", commissioned by the Peabody Trust in London for the first phase of the regeneration of the 1930's St John's Hill estate, a collaboration with artist Rodney Harris. The sculpture commemorates the social history of the estate and the people who made their homes there. |
"... her sensitivity is not attuned merely to the material and the process, but most importantly to the meaning that she conjures up. The subject matter is as much a challenge as the material itself. The resultant image is a poetic statement of the discipline of militarism, rather than a mere visual description of a uniform." Jacques R. RANGASAMY, MBE |
